Motor Vehicle Review Board

Purpose and Authority

The Motor Vehicle Review Board is given the statutory duty of conducting hearings to resolve certain violations of the Motor Vehicle Franchise Act that arise between automobile dealers and the manufacturers with whom they have contracts to sell vehicles. Through the Secretary of State's Office, Department Of Administrative Hearings, notices of protest from the dealers are received, scheduled for hearings and heard by hearing officers who make recommendations to the Motor Vehicle Review Board. The Board in turn enters final orders granting or denying the protests filed. The authority for the Board is found in the Motor Vehicle Franchise Act, 815 ILCS 710/1, et. seq.
