File Detail Report
The File Detail Report on a corporation or limited liability company includes the most commonly requested information on the business entity. Among the information provided for a particular company would be the exact name, the date of formation or registration in Illinois, the jurisdiction, the duration, the name of the registered agent and the address of the registered office. In addition, the report on a corporation will include the names and addresses of the president and secretary, while that on a limited liability company will indicate whether the company is member managed or manager managed. Finally, the report will provide the last date on which an Annual Report was filed, thus indicating whether the company is in good standing.
Certificate of Good Standing
From the File Detail Report of a corporation or limited liability company, you may purchase a Certificate of Good Standing--providing, of course, that the entity has satisfied all requirements of the relevant Illinois statutes. You may then immediately print out the certificate once the purchase has been completed. For both a business corporation and a limited liability company the fee for the certificate is $27.00. For a not-for-profit corporation, the fee is $6.00. Payment of the required fee may be made by the following credit card types: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.

Corporate or LLC Name Availability
By searching the Corporate/LLC Database, you can also conduct a preliminary check of the availability of a proposed new business entity name. In order to conduct a search for name availability, please type the proposed corporate or limited liability company name in the space indicated.
By checking our database, you will learn if the proposed name appears to be used by another company currently registered to do business in Illinois. The proposed corporate/LLC name must be distinguishable from any other corporate/LLC name on file with this office. If the requested name appears not to be currently registered, the search will result in no records being found. Therefore, the requested corporate/LLC name would appear to be available. Please be advised that this database check is a preliminary check and final determination of corporate/LLC name availability will be determined by the Secretary of State and in compliance with Illinois Statutes.
