Parental Access FAQ

What information regarding my teen's driving record will I be able to access via the Internet?
You will have access to the full driving record. This includes license status, traffic convictions and supervisions, accident information, license suspensions or revocations, and other licensing actions. Please safeguard this information. It is confidential and should be made available only to the teen's parents or guardians.

What is the cost to access my teen's driving record online?
There is no cost. Secretary White's office is providing this information to you for free as a means to further help ensure your teen is a safe and responsible driver.

What information do I need to access my teen's driving record online?

I misplaced my teen's parent/guardian letter. Can I request my teen's PIN number online?
Yes. If you are the parent or legal guardian who lives with the teen, you may request your teen's PIN number. You will be required to furnish the following information:

Your teen's PIN number will be mailed to the address that currently appears on your teen's driving record within 7-10 business days. The PIN number will not be released over the phone for security purposes.

How can I request my teen's PIN number to view his/her driving record online if I am an Illinois resident and do not live at the same address as my teen?
You can obtain a first-time or duplicate PIN number by written request to this office. You must provide the following:

Can a parent/legal guardian living out-of-state access his/her teen's driving record online?
Yes. You may obtain your teen's PIN number by written request to this office. You must provide the following:

How secure is my teen's driving record online?
This office is committed to assuring that the online process, and the driving history information provided, is as secure and convenient as possible. Multiple levels of security have been established to ensure this is the case. Only the teen's parent or legal guardian and the teen named on the driving record is granted online access. Please keep the PIN number in a safe and secure location.

How long will my teen's driving record be available online?
Parental Access to the online driving record will be available until your teen reaches the age of 18.

I would like further clarification of the transactions on my teen's driving record. Who should I contact for more information?
