- There were 784 bicyclists killed and 45,000 were injured.
- Individuals under age 16 accounted for 18% of all pedalcyclists killed and 35% of those injured in traffic crashes.
- 17% of the pedalcyclists killed in traffic crashes were between 5 and 15 years old.
- Alcohol was involved in more than one-third of the pedalcyclist fatalities.
- 69% of pedalcycle deaths occurred in urban areas, and 70% occurred at non-intersection locations.
