Patent and Trademark Depository Libraries in Illinois
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has specially designated over 80 libraries throughout the United States as Patent and Trademark Depository Libraries (PTDL). The Illinois State Library regretfully decided to relinquish its role as a United States Patent and Trademark Depository Library in 2009.
The closest patent libraries to the Springfield, Illinois area are located in St. Louis and Chicago. PTDLs receive and house copies of U.S. patents and trademark materials and resources, including CD and DVD products, standard patent search tools. CASSIS and the WEST (Web-based Examiner Search Tool) USPTO internal patent searching systems.
