DISCLAIMER

The information provided by the Office of the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library, as found in Every Library in ILLINET, is public information maintained by the Illinois State Library that is available for free access by all. The Illinois State Library does not guarantee the timeliness or accuracy of the information, nor provide any services beyond what is expressly stated.

Mailing Lists:

To receive a listing of libraries, please specify the type of libraries you need. There are approximately 640 public libraries, 3,200 school libraries, 200 academic libraries and 480 special libraries. The information for each library contains the location, name and postal address. We can add telephone numbers. The list is supplied via e-mail in Microsoft Excel format. We do not supply labels or send any listings via postal delivery. We require you to provide us with a mailing address and phone number.

Also, for non-governmental agencies, prior to receiving a list of libraries, the following statement must be acknowledged:

"Please be advised that by providing the mailing list of libraries, the Illinois State Library in no way endorses or supports your program or business promotion to libraries."

Your request will be acknowledged and the information sent to you within a few working days.

To make a request for a list of libraries, send an e-mail request to Pat McGuckin.

Electronic Lists:

ISL-ANNOUNCE The Illinois State Library Electronic Announcement List

ISL-Announce is an electronic "read-only" mail list providing timely announcements from Illinois State Library staff regarding grants, electronic resources, satellite teleconferences, continuing education and other programs and items of interest to Illinois library staffs.

The Illinois State Library encourages all ILLINET member librarians, library staff, trustees, members of the Illinois library community and those interested in Illinois library issues to subscribe to ISL-Announce. To insure that everyone receives information in a timely manner, there is no limit to the number of subscriptions per library.

To subscribe, go to http://www.islemail.org/mailman/listinfo/isl-announce and follow the directions for "Subscribing to ISL-Announce".

Posting to this list is limited to the staff of the Illinois State Library. All ISL-Announce messages will include the name, e-mail address and phone number of a specific contact person at the Illinois State Library from whom further information can be requested.

Questions about ISL-Announce can be directed to Gwen Harrison (217-785-7334) or gharrison at ilsos.net or Susan Goodman (217-557-7259) or sgoodman at ilsos.net.

ILLINET member libraries are those academic, public, school and special libraries recognized by the Illinois State Library as members in good standing of their regional library systems. This compliance automatically makes them members of the Illinois Library and Information Network (ILLINET), a statewide consortium of more than 4,000 libraries.

The Illinois State Library Grant Discussion Electronic List

The ISL-Grant-Discussion electronic list was designed to promote communication and discussion of grants awarded by the Illinois State Library to ILLINET member libraries. These grants include the federally funded LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) competitive grants, the state funded E&A (Education and Automate) competitive grants, public library per capita grants and school per capita grants. This list also includes information about various other publicly and privately funded grants.

The Illinois State Library encourages all ILLINET member librarians interested in grants and the grant process to subscribe to ISL-Grant-Discussion.

ILLINET member libraries are those academic, public, school and special libraries who are recognized by the Illinois State Library as members in good standing of their regional library systems, which automatically makes them members of the Illinois Library and Information Network (ILLINET), a statewide consortium of more than 4,000 libraries.

ISL-Grant-Discussion is an open, moderated list, that is, anyone can join the list; postings are moderated.

To subscribe, go to http://www.islemail.org/mailman/listinfo/isl-grant-discussion and follow the directions for "Subscribing to ISL-Grant-Discussion."

Questions about ISL-Grant-Discussion can be directed to Gwen Harrison (217-785-7334) or gharrison at ilsos.net or Susan Goodman (217-557-7259) or sgoodman at ilsos.net.

The Illinois State Library Electronic Resource Sharing List

The ISL-E-Sharing list has been created by the Illinois State Library to provide Illinois library consortia and library groups with a way to share electronic resource purchase packages with all interested Illinois libraries. Any Illinois consortium or group--academic, public, school, special, regional library system and/or multi-type--is invited to post product information on ISL-E-Sharing. This list is open to everyone in the Illinois library community. Vendors with special offerings and/or pricing for Illinois libraries should contact consortial groups directly rather than post information on the ISL-E-Sharing list. The Illinois State Library is the owner and manager of ISL-E-Sharing, and Illinois State Library staff will moderate the list.

ISL-E-Sharing is an open, moderated list, that is, anyone can join the list and there is no limit to the number of subscriptions per library, however; postings are moderated.

To subscribe, go to http://islemail.org/mailman/listinfo/isl-e-sharing and follow the directions for "Subscribing to ISL-E-Sharing."

Questions should be directed to Gwen Harrison (217-785-7334) or gharrison at ilsos.net or Susan Goodman (217-557-7259) or sgoodman at ilsos.net.
