VOYAGER FAQS

What is Voyager?
Voyager is an online integrated library management system produced by Ex Libris Group. Voyager provides a web interface to the library catalog of the Illinois State Library and the state's 71 other Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) member libraries. The system also supports library collection management functions including circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, serials control, course reserves and reporting.

What does the new Voyager catalog system provide access to?
The new Voyager system is a catalog of library materials (books, magazines/journals, maps, and other materials) for the Illinois State Library and the state's 71 other CARLI member libraries.

What benefits does the new Voyager library catalog system provide?
The many benefits of the new Voyager library catalog system include:

  • Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) are not required. To access your library account information remotely, all you need is your 14-digit Illinois State Library ID number and last name.
  • search using Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT)
  • limit search results to specific categories such as format, language, and publication year
  • easily download and email search results
  • use Internet links through URLs included in some bibliographic records
  • review your library records of check-outs, overdues, and fines
  • renew library materials online
  • check library holdings of the 71 CARLI member libraries throughout Illinois

What is the "My Account" feature in Voyager?
Library users can use this feature to see what materials they have checked out, renew materials, personalize their search preferences, and check that their address information is correct. To correct your address or for other account assistance, please call Circulation Services at (217) 782-7573.

What web browser should I use to access Voyager?
Recommended browsers for searching Voyager are the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari. To experience the full functionality of the Illinois State Library's catalog or I-Share, you must have JavaScript enabled in your web browser.

Is there telnet or dial access to the new online catalog?
No. Access by telnet connections and dial access will not be available. All access to the new Voyager catalog will be made through the web interface at https://i-share.carli.illinois.edu/isl/.
