By purchasing Prevent Violence license plates, you make a contribution to the Violence Prevention Authority. Programs funded by the PV plate include statewide and community-based initiatives sponsored by law enforcement, churches, private organizations and foundations. The services include conflict resolution training and outreach for children, teens and young adults, the integration of violence prevention with substance abuse awareness efforts and education programs to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault.
The plate features two universal symbols of peace--a white dove carrying an olive branch in its beak. The bird is shown in full flight against a blue and purple field.
Motorists applying for a Standard Prevent Violence License Plate initially pay a total of $118 for the plate including the standard fee of $78. Of the $40 additional cost, $25 goes to the Violence Prevention Authority and $15 covers the costs of producing the plate.
Annual renewals of the PV plate cost $105. The renewal fee for a standard plate is $78. Of the $27 additional cost for renewing the PV plate, $25 will be earmarked for violence prevention programs and $2 for administrative costs.
