Secretary Of State's Business Services Department Goes Online

CHICAGO –– Secretary of State Jesse White today announced that the public can obtain information about corporations and becoming incorporated online at the Secretary of State's Web site, cyberdriveillinois.com.

By clicking on the service to business icon, individuals can find the name availability of a corporation, the date when a company was incorporated, the state that company is registered in, the president's name and address, the secretary's name, and the registered agent's name and address. The service also is available for limited liability corporations.

"I am excited about this new service," said White. "It will help Illinois companies and individuals access the material they need. This is just one more way that we are moving this office into the 21st century."

At the site, there also is information on how to incorporate and the forms for doing so can be accessed and printed out. Then the individual can fill them out and send them in. The service is free.

As of May 26, there were 380,888 companies registered with the state.
