White to Host 30th Anniversary Discussion of State Constitution

SPRINGFIELD –– Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White will host a Legislative History Roundtable marking the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Illinois State Constitution on Thursday, June 22, 2000 beginning at noon in the Authors Room of the Illinois State Library, 300 S. Second Street in Springfield.

Former reporters, lobbyists, legislators and legislative officers will join together to discuss the legislative changes of the past thirty years. The concept will be a free wheeling discussion about the process of Illinois government. Although no agenda is set, some topics likely to be covered include reapportionment, press coverage, lobbying and the structure of the legislature.

The "on the record" event will be video taped by the Illinois Information Service and will become a part of the permanent collection of the Illinois State Library. The public is invited to attend and bring a brown bag lunch.
