SPRINGFIELD –– Passenger car, B-truck, recreational vehicle (RV) and recreational trailer (RT) owners who have license plates expiring in December can purchase renewal stickers online at www.cyberdriveillinois.com, by using the "TouchTone Renewal" system, or by visiting a Driver Services facility, Secretary of State Jesse White said today.
New-design plates have been issued for all passenger vehicles in the state, while B-trucks and vehicles in all other plate categories will receive new plates in 2003.
White said new-design plates will be issued to B-truck owners beginning in January 2003. RV and RT owners will receive new-design plates in December 2003.
It is now too late to mail applications and guarantee delivery of new stickers before the Dec. 31 expiration date. Anyone driving a vehicle on or after Jan. 1, 2003, with an expired December 2002 sticker will be subject to a $75 fine for improper registration.
White said passenger car, B-truck, RV and RT owners can buy their December 2003 renewal stickers over the counter at 116 Driver Services facilities and five Driver Services mobile units. In addition, about 2,415 financial institutions statewide sell passenger car and B-truck stickers only.
Pre-printed renewal applications have been mailed to 673,768 passenger car, B-truck, RV and RT owners who renew their registrations in December.
