Secretary of State White Announces Opening of New South Holland Commercial Driver's License Facility

Springfield — Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced today the opening of the new larger and more accessible South Holland Commercial Driver's License (CDL) facility. The new facility, which is located at 41 W. 162nd Street opens on Monday, February 24 at 8 a.m.

The old facility at 16475 Van Dam Road will be closed on February 20 and 21 due to the move. Commercial drivers are urged to visit one of the other facilities in West Chicago, Libertyville or Elk Grove Village during those days.

"This new facility will serve our commercial drivers much more efficiently due to the larger space indoors as well as in the parking lot," Secretary White said. The new facility is almost double the size of the old facility and features a larger parking lot to accommodate for more road testing at one time. It also has four traffic control corners for easy entrance and exit.

The new facility will accommodate the needs of truck and bus drivers including:

  • Vision, automated written and road tests for new CDL drivers
  • CDL renewals
  • Passenger vehicle testing for CDL drivers
  • CDL guides, Rules of the Road books, and maps

The new facility will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The old facility, which is about two miles away, has been operating in that location since 1996.
