Springfield — Passenger car owners who have license plates expiring in March can purchase renewal stickers and B-truck and motorcycle owners can purchase new-design plates online at www.cyberdriveillinois.com, by using the "TouchTone Renewal" system, or by visiting a Driver Services facility (see attached lists), Secretary of State Jesse White said today.
New-design plates have been issued for all passenger vehicles in the state, while B-trucks, motorcycles and vehicles in all other plate categories are receiving new plates this year.
It is now too late to mail applications and guarantee delivery of new stickers and plates before the March 31 expiration date. Anyone driving a vehicle on or after April 1, 2003, with an expired March 2003 sticker will be subject to a $75 fine for improper registration.
White said passenger car owners can buy their March 2004 renewal stickers over the counter at 117 Driver Services facilities and five Driver Services mobile units. In addition, about 2,415 financial institutions statewide sell passenger car stickers only. Twenty facilities are selling B-truck and motorcycle plates.
Pre-printed renewal applications have been mailed to 952,242 passenger car, B-truck and motorcycle owners who renew their registrations in March.
