White Announces Winners At 2005 Antique Vehicle Show
SPRINGFIELD A 1975 Corvette owned by Brian Williams of Chatham won the top award at the 2005 Secretary of State's Antique Vehicle Show September 10.
Secretary of State Jesse White said Williams received the Illinois State Champion award for having the best overall vehicle in the show.
"The move to Downtown Springfield for this year's show was a huge success," White said. "The show attracted some of the most beautifully restored antique and classic vehicles in the state, as well as sports cars and motorcycles. I want to congratulate all our award winners as well as the rest of participants for continuing to support this wonderful event."
A 1969 Plymouth owned by George Weisser of Morton received the special Marquee award as the best Plymouth in the show. The Marquee award honors a different automobile manufacturer each year. This year's manufacturer was Chrysler Motors.
The Vintage Agricultural Association of Menard County also sponsored an exhibit and demonstration of antique tractors again this yea. The organization was formed in July 2001 to honor Illinois' agricultural heritage through the preservation, restoration and education of vintage agriculture equipment. The association awarded plaques to the winners.
First place winners in 44 classifications received 'State Champion in Class' awards, and second and third place winners also received awards.
