White Announces 29 Libraries To Join Local Library System Automation Programs
SPRINGFIELD Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White has announced that 29 libraries located across Illinois are joining local library system automation programs (LLSAPs) operated by Illinois' regional library systems, providing library users with even greater opportunities to access more library materials.
White said the Illinois State Library is awarding grants directly to the regional library systems to add the 29 libraries' holdings to the LLSAPs.
"LLSAPs offer patrons things like links to electronic resources, circulation and online catalog services, and in some instances the ability to search multiple library catalogs and databases with one query," White said. "Library users can be notified when new items are added in a specified area of interest. Illinois libraries are committed to more resource sharing, more integration of library services, and providing patrons with easier ways to access library materials. LLSAPs make those tasks easier, and I am pleased that these new libraries and their holdings will be available to library users throughout Illinois."
