SPRINGFIELD – Secretary of State Jesse White today reminded
auto enthusiasts that the 2000 Secretary of State’s Auto Show is
only five weeks away.
The all-day show, which includes a swap meet and flea
market, will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, at the State Fairgrounds
in Springfield.
"The Auto Show provides a fun-filled day for the entire
family," said White. "Once again, the show will be held in
conjunction with the WNNS/Valco Cruise for Charity so visitors
can enjoy both events."
The top Chevrolet Corvair at this year’s show will receive
the special Marquis award, which represents a different
automobile manufacturer each year.
The Illinois State Champion award will be given to the
vehicle judged best at the show by the Auto Show Advisory
Committee. First, second and third-place winners will receive
awards in at least 45 classes of vehicles, including antique
motor scooters, motor-powered bikes and antique motorcycles.
Special Event license plates featuring 1960 and 1969
Corvairs are available for $20 per set and may be purchased and
displayed up to Sept. 9 on cars and B-trucks. For additional
information, write to the Secretary of State’s office, 324 W.
