The IRAD facility at Northern Illinois University is located on the fourth floor of Founders Memorial Library on the main campus in DeKalb. Founders Library is located on Normal Road between Lincoln Highway and Lucinda Avenue. A visitor's parking lot is located on the west side of Founders Memorial Library just off Carroll Avenue. A fee is charged for parking in this lot.

IRAD at Northern Illinois University is housed with the Earl W. Hayter Regional History Center. The Regional History Center includes the University Archives and a regional manuscript collection.
