Basic Fees and Copy Policy Illinois State Archives

Research in the Illinois State Archives Reference Room and Microfilm Reading Room may be conducted at no charge. Fees will be accessed for copies, certifications, and other services provided.

Archives staff will determine how or if original records may be copied due to age and fragility. Materials deemed too fragile will not be scanned or copied.

Researchers are permitted to take photographs of documents with a camera or cell phone at no charge. Small scanners without document feeders are permissible at the discretion of Archives staff.

Due to staff limitations, large reproduction requests may not be filled immediately and may only be provided as physical copies.
